Napoleonic drill

Today there was a Napoleonic re-enactment at the castle.  I didn't go to the actual battle (I have seen it many times as it's an annual event) but called in to see the living history around the grounds. The collage shows some of the sights and costumes, everything is historically accurate and very interesting.

The swans were nowhere to be seen, lots of people plus cannon and gun fire must have caused a lot of disturbance.  A mallard duck was sitting on the swan eggs with her two chicks by her side. She was keeping them warm for her neighbours!
