New Inverness Town House Dog

A morning spent wandering around Inverness. It is cold and slightly damp. The photo shows one of the new Inverness Town House Dogs, which were commissioned after the old ones went missing. after the Inverness Town House was renovated. The old ones were rediscovered in a Highland Council depot around the same time new ones were unveiled.

After coffee, I head down the River Ness for a last walk before going to the railway station. Extra 1 shows the Three Virtues, Faith, Hope and Charity. The YMCA commissioned Andrew Davidson to create the statues, and they originally stood on top of the YMCA building in Inverness. The building then became a warehouse for various companies before being demolished 1955. The statues were moved to the Burgh Surveyor's yard, before being bought by an Orkney man in 1961. The statues were moved to the owner's property in Orkney. Highland Council bought them in 2007 and moved them to their present location, on Ness Bank near Castle Road, in 2011.

The train journey was uneventful. Although I had a seat, the train was one of the Inter7City type, which has limited capacity for bikes. But a kind train guard helped me not only find a safe space for my bike, which was in a bike bag, but I got a good seat as well. Extra 2 shows a view of the Cairngorms from Aviemore station. No delays on the train today. Once past Perth, it becomes quite sunny. It is good to get home.
