They’re Back!

Swallows
I was on the verge of waking up
when I heard that familiar sound
that joyful, cheeping, twittering,
just as I was coming round
I flung back the duvet
and hopped out of my bed
I pulled back the curtains
and there they were overhead
after eight weeks on the wing
they have finally arrived
these harbingers of summer
I’m so glad they have survived
Returning to last years nest
they’ll have repairs to do
line with grass, feathers, flowers
safe and warm for the new brood

Yes, that’s what got me out of bed this morning! I thought I saw one yesterday on 1st May but I wasn’t sure.
I helped a young local man - our Green Party Candidate - to deliver his leaflets this morning, something I got roped into. I’m not normally a Green Party voter but in the absence of a labour candidate (I don’t know why) I didn’t mind helping him out. Not something I’m going to make a habit of but it was some morning exercise if nothing else and Simon is a nice guy.
I didn’t do much else today, I had a headache and felt really whacked again.
A quick tidy up after lunch then I settled down to knit and watched a few episodes of The Great British Dig. It’s so fascinating what is beneath our feet, our house and gardens. I would love to take part in a dig.
It’s been a wet and dull day but brightened by the arrival of the swallows!
Sabrina and the girls had a shopping day today at The Forte in Glasgow.
Amelia and Lucy had vouchers and money from Christmas and birthdays to spend. I wish I had been with them!
We started watching The Remains of the Day last night but only got half way through and we were flagging so we have the rest to watch tonight.
A great film and Emma Thompson is one of my favourite actors and favourite celeb. She does a lot of good in the world.
Anyway, that’s all folks.
Goodnight :-)X
