Cromarty Firth

Another unsuccessful morning re the swan cobb. I arrived at about 5.30am to see them both on the river near the nest site. The tide was full and there was a fair wind blowing making the waters of the Moray Firth a bit choppy. I suspect the water is now too deep for him to feed in what would be the rock pools at a lower tide so I gave up and made my way out towards East beach. There was yet another red sunrise in the distance over the dunes and Culbin Forrest but the sky over me was grey low cloud. As the light came up there was a slight tinge of red in the cloud looking towards the entrance to the Cromarty Firth. The 2 little bumps to the left of the entrance are called the Sutors stacks. Cromarty was the home of a brilliant self taught Geologist, Hugh Miller. He collected a lot of his fossils along the shore line of The Black Isle to the left of The Sutors.
