Quince blossom
A day of mostly getting on with things at home, particularly in the garden this morning. The quince tree is laden with blossom, beginning to finish in places now; there's a circle of dropped petals around its base, and tiny fruits are beginning to form.
I spent part of the afternoon having a long Facetime call with Barbara (old friend in the States). We chewed over the Supreme Court leak about the possible overturning of the Roe vs Wade ruling. Barbara described the growing tide of misogyny she's witnessing in Republican politics, particularly in terms of measures regarding women's health and reproductive rights. As I saw someone quip sadly on Twitter recently: 'should we contact Margaret Atwood and ask her what we should do next?' Barbara did say, however, that women's organisations in the US have been preparing for this, and are ready to campaign. It will be sorely needed...
This reminds me that Richard and I finished watching the last series of Grace and Frankie last night. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin being fabulous (Sam Waterson and Martin Sheen aren't too bad either). It's funny; it's also brave, in terms of looking old age in the face.
