Murder
A little bit heartbroken today. We moved into our house 26 years ago and there weren't really any houses to speak of surrounding us. Over the years developers have have built all around us. I really don't have a problem with that, even though there's still not any affordable housing being built which is a travesty. What I do have a problem with is that the developers, being greedy bastards, build as many houses as they can on the surrounding land and do not take into account that the trees that have stood for years shouldn't have houses built quite so close to them.
This tree was an oak. A beautiful beautiful oak. I have watched her over the last month growing all her vibrant leaves, having woken from winter. She was the perfect shape too - a bit like a lolly pop drawing of a tree. She also screened us from a couple of the houses. One of which has organised for the tree to be killed because the roots are starting to move some slabs on his patio and he is concerned about the house. The tree was in no mans land between his garden and ours - there is a small path still owned by the developers (as is the house with some leasehold on it) so the tree was killed. Even to the point that some sort of poison has been put on it/in it so it doesn't continue to sprout.
I am hoping against hope that the poison hasn't worked or the murdering bastards forgot to apply it, so this beautiful oak will somehow rise again like a phoenix.
