Alsatian village
A day walking about one of the many villages of the "wine road" in Alsace. The road winds it way from one village to another, on the flanks of the Vosges mountains, nestling among the famous grape vines that make up our wines: Riesling, Sylvaner, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot, and the like.
This was taken in the village of Eguisheim, not the most well know by tourists but one of my personal favorites for its unusual configuration, having developed since the IV century, in a series of concentric small streets around the village's center. It was also the birth place, in 1002, of Brunon d'Eguisheim, otherwise known as Pope St Leon IX (1049-1054).
