Fort
I walked into and back from Lamu Town, running the gauntlet of local men selling boat rides and guiding services. Lamu has an imposing magnificent fort in the heart of the old town’s World Heritage Centre, built around 200 years ago when the town had a powerful role in control of the coast.
In the afternoon Gugs and I returned to Nairobi. I’m feeling a little anxious about not yet being in Tanzania, the principal base for the new job, as it’ll be very satisfying and more effective to eventually get there. However, of all places that can encourage an atmosphere of chill, Lamu is surely high up on the list.
