Dancing Down that Stony Road
Today started much as yesterday ended, with wild winds and rain. It was definitely brighter and colder though. Mom flew past the window (slight exaggeration) on the way to the hairdresser and I couldn't help wondering why. It's barely worth even brushing your hair on these windy days as you end up looking like a haystack anyway.
Tesco Man was Tesco Lady up here today! No I do not mean that Lily Savage came in with the shopping. Don't be daft! Mom was back at that stage so I could carry on working and ignore the chattering from the two ladies in the kitchen.
I had a couple of phone calls during the day. One was a software salesmen I'd emailed the other day. He remarked on my Ayr homeworking phone number for this week. He was pleasant enough in a smarmy way that salesmen have but when he started doing a Rab C Nebitt voice I nearly hung up on him! The clock in the living room bonged while he was on the phone and he said 'Och! Is it 12 ooo clorchhh?' making me want to dry my ear out. I told him that amazingly enough the time is indeed the same in Scotland as it is down there in England. I just about managed to stop myself calling him a pillock and wound up the conversation as quickly as I could.
I had a call a bit later from a woman I suspect was Mom's sister in law from Donegal. I last saw her when I was 11 and I still remember that moustache and fearsome massive wart with a gigantic hair growing out of it. It was a silly conversation with whoever it was anyway..
She said 'Who's that?'
I said 'Who's that saying 'Who's that?' ?
She muttered and yelled 'Who are you?!!' and I yelled 'YOU TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!!'
She hung up then! Result!
Mom said 'Who was that then?'
Sigh!
I was glad to finish work at 3:15 and escape for some air. The seagulls are now fed but I will spare you birdie pictures today. I quite liked the light on the cobbles coming back over the bridge after feeding my pals.
