Avocet
We had a u3a photography outing to the WWT reserve at Upton Warren. When we got there we split into 2 groups, and first went to the freshwater reed beds and visited several hides, where we saw terns, geese with goslings, ducks, cormorants, but sadly no kingfishers.
After coffee we swapped and went to the saltwater flats. There were more unusual birds; avocet, dunlings, little ringed plovers, and also some gadwall ducks.
Hard to believe such a lot of wonderful bird watching was possible so close to the M5!
