Serendipity
I was walking with my neighbour this morning on the edge of the saltmarsh behind Belhaven Beach. For most of the year there is a muddy stream on the edge of the salt marshes. Well it is not a stream, as it not running, more a very long thin muddy pool that stretches most of the length of the salt marsh as it abuts the second row of dunes on the edge of John Muir Country Park. My neighbour's elderly retriever had just managed to find the muddiest and dirtiest stretch to have a paddle and came out looking as if she had sheep's black legs, so we knew a bathtime was in order when we got back to the car. My neighbours are incredibly well organised dog-wise and always have hot water and a plastic box in which to wash the dogs legs after a walk if needed.
I had brought with me my newly repaired lens on my camera and was shooting anything and everything just to check it was in full working order. Then I happened to glance at the LED screen after I had pointed it at the reeds in the muddy 'stream' and saw an image I thought had some potential as the sky was nicely reflected in the murky water. I took a few more shots but when I got home decided that the initial shot was the best. And so there you have it as my blip, an image that was scarcely composed or given any particular thought - that is true serendipity.
