May 14
Another sunny, warm day with a high temperature this afternoon of 28 C. Forecast has temps back to normal tomorrow.
I had an early start and was on the road by 8 am today.
First stop was a plant sale, then back on the road so I could get to Miners Marsh before it got too hot. There were yellow warblers (and I decided to use one as my blip today), tree swallows, Canada geese and goslings, swamp and song sparrows, cardinals, Baltimore orioles and red winged black birds.
Next stop was a favorite bakery for some treats, then stops at 2 garden centers. Lesson learned, don't just take the wheelbarrow off the truck, take all of the tools off so it is easier to load it with plants. Then a stop at a farm market that I had never been to, and they have a small garden center there. Then in to Wolfville for a walk thru the Harriet Irving Botanical Garden which has finally reopened after being closed for 2 years due to covid. My last stop was another garden center, I bought quite a few annuals there last year, his prices are good. I will stop there again next weekend on my way to Annapolis Royal and pick up some more items.
I was greeted by name at 2 of the 3 garden centers I stopped at. One of them even commented about me having a truck this year. That's another reason why I like going outside of the city to buy plants. Better prices and the owners and staff get to know you and remember you from year to year.
A fun day, and I should sleep tonight.
