Belated birthday for Jack

We met up with Jack and Jess to give him his birthday pressies from a couple of weeks ago. The original plan was for us and Jen & Adam with dogs to go up. We'd meet them at Barnham Beeches, go for a long dog walk then have a meal. Best laid plans and all that. Adam and Jennie didn't come in the end. He was on call and with the weather looking utterly dreadful and various other things, it made sense for them not to. Our journey on the M25 was awful - that bloody road is not fit for purpose especially the lead up to Heathrow. Took us over 2 and 1/2 hours. Once Jess and Jack arrived we decided to 'just eat' as it was chucking it down. Had a vegan roast which was ok. Not marvellous and surprisingly the parts of it that weren't really up to scratch were the easy bits - the roast potatoes. Literally as hard as nails. Didn't spoil the afternoon though and once we had finished we did have the dog walk - 2 miles round Burnham Beeches. Absolutely beautiful. Made more so by it being near 5pm and having rained a lot so practically empty. Wish it was nearer. Jess and Jack will go again though as it's only 30 mins from them. 
Can't believe the amount of wining and dining we've done in the last 3 weeks.
