Booth Wood

I strolled around Booth Wood Reservoir today, which nestles/lurks/cowers/sits* just to the North of England's Highest Motorway, the M62.

The Reservoir was opened in July 1971, holds 800,000,000 gallons of water, held back by a dam 1160 feet long and 148 feet thick.

Best of all, it has a few attractive stone troughs near the dam, in which someone has planted and cared for colourful flowers. I don't know who they are - perhaps they are hiding their light under a shovel.
