SGS students' exhibits at Victoria Works, Chalford
Woodpeckers and I went to explore one of the several SELECT artists' trails that are exhibiting around the Five Valleys for two weekends. We chose to go up the Frome Valley trail to Chalford, where we initially went into Halliday's Mill and found an artist we already knew.
We then crossed the road to the Victoria Works but unfortunately a rainstorm hit just as we did so. In the second building, both of which are former industrial buildings related to the local wool industry. I chatted to a ceramic artist, Juli, who explained her quite intricate technical processes. I've added a snap of one of her pieces, which she had also taken varied photographs in different lighting conditions.
My blip is of some textile stiudents work which Helena had seen exhibited in a temporary Stroud gallery recently which she had liked. the fabrics are all recycled cast-offs, which they re-purposed. I blipped this because there was a bit of colour in the image.
We then went a couple of miles back down the river valley to another old mill complex where Gloucestershire Printmakers Cooperative had a gallery. I met a well known wildlife artist and it was particularly interesting to see her original painted work as well as the high quality prints she sells of her work. I hope to meet her again soon and find out a bit more.
