Blackcap?
Every year we have these little birds nesting in the ivy on our back patio wall. Every year we think that we should find out what type they are, but it somehow never happens. On Monday morning, Mario, one of our neighbours, was on our patio discussing a street matter with Bb. The birds were giving it laldy and Mario recognised its birdsong and identified it from its appearance as a 'tallarol de casquet' in Catalan. A quick Google came up with blackcap or blackcap warbler. This photo isn't great as I had to zoom right in with my phone to catch it. Do blipper friends agree with Mario? We live having them every year and enjoy the birdsong. We have a feeling the babies must be about to be born soon as the parents hardly leave the patio. In fact, Bb found one of them fast asleep on a branch of the lemon tree the other night! It's a good excuse for not cutting the ivy back yet!
Some Aptis today and tidying up of our guest twin bedroom, which is where we've been tending to leave clean clothes for folding and ironing (ironing is mainly Bb's shirts). Cleaned the dishwasher, but of shopping for essentials. Two walks, one of which was to meet Bb from coming down from IESE. Also, lovely to chat with my grand niece Katie, who was at, my brother busboy's for a visit. Can't believe she's now 9 and was telling me that the youngest of the 3 siblings, Hannah, visited her school today as she'll be starting there after the summer holidays. I imagine my niece, Sarah, will shed a tear that day!
Dinner in again and on the patio - big salad of spinach, tomatoes, apples, grapes, boiled eggs, cucumbers, grilled asparagus and burrata cheese. Very tasty and with baguette bread. Definitely warm enough on the patio now, but I keep remembering the Spanish saying of not taking your vest off till the 40th of May! We've definitely now taken the duvet off the bed now!
