The back passage

A sadly neglected part of the garden.  The wisteria (and beyond it, a rather nice honeysuckle) were there when we moved in.  And the wisteria never fails to delight for a short while each spring - today it was buzzing.  

But beneath it - a tangle of brambles, nettles, dandelions, some small saplings and other weeds.

It gets little sun, so when we tried to grow lettuce and herbs in pots - convenient as they were just outside the back door - they didn't do very well.  An area that I always intended to make something of "next year" - now it will be up to someone else.

In extras, the extent of my weeding today - the area beyond the back door and round the far corner is still rampant - that's for tomorrow.
