The Eye Crud
We noticed yesterday that Jax’s right eye was discharging a milky gunk so off to the ER vet this morning. As usual, since ours wasn’t a death-emergency, we had to wait several hours to be seen. Jax enjoyed walking all around the large waiting area, sniffing things and then was content to sit in the exam room. Eventually a vet was available, tests were run and the diagnosis is bacterial conjunctivitis.
If you look closely, you will see some discharge at the corner of his right eye. It doesn’t seem to be bothering him in the slightest (thank goodness) but it does need to be treated with eye drops 3 times daily for 10 days. I got the first drop in when we got home without too much trouble. Fingers crossed. I may take him to see our regular vet this week just for a second opinion.
Anyway, this has taken up the better part of the day and it is now so hot out that standing outside with a camera holds no appeal. Jax and I are relaxing on the sofa while Hubs is working on his Camaro. It’s entirely possible a nap could break out.
The bluebird parents are busy bringing small insects and larva into the box. Thankfully the heat will break tomorrow which will make it much easier for them. Right now, Mama has to spend some time on the nest keeping their temperature regulated since they ate naked right now. I’ve seen papa passing larger prey into the box, presumably for her. Devoted parents.
And there will definitely be something dark later!
