Wentworth Castle gardens

We stopped off in Yorkshire at beautiful gardens at Wentworth castle. The azaleas were at their best, but as we have a fine show of our own at home, I’ve chosen Mr C walking down a tree-lined avenue after visiting a tower. Of course we climbed to the top for the view, a bit impeded by the tree growth since it had been built in honour of the owner’s wife Lady Mary Montagu. She introduced the smallpox vaccine to Uk in 1720.

We managed our picnic lunch and a 2.5 mile walk before hitting the road south. We had to take a long detour off the M42 round Birmingham as there had been an accident on the M5 resulting in a junction closure. Thank you Gertie Google for telling me about the accident, enabling me to find an alternative, but much slower route.

9 hours after leaving home we are parked up at our small camp site with is at a stud farm south of Malvern.

The young lad who took our £15 said he thought it was Ok to park in Waitrose car park tomorrow. Mr C did not like hearing that as of course I’ll need to shop for some (non) essentials.

We are very much looking forward to the Lorna podcast event which will be an interesting first for us. I did enjoy discovering Hazel’s “secret recreational project”. It had come such a long way.
