I made it myself!

I can't believe this is only my first food blip given how much I enjoy cooking, eating and photographing food. Not my best effort, but it tasted amazing!

I had a pretty nice day today, although it was slow in starting as is normal for me at the moment. I made chocolate and raspberry tarts this morning as a practice for something next week, and after a disastrous attempt at my own pastry yesterday I decided today to use ready-made pastry. It was definitely easier but it doesn't taste or look nearly as nice, so I'm going to try and make my own for next week! At least I know where I went wrong yesterday so I should be able to fix it.

I met Mum in the city after lunch and we had a nice mooch and a bit of a shop. I feel like I need a lot of new clothes now that I'm home, and I'm having a bit of a shoe crisis, so it was nice to see what was around at the moment. I cannot believe that I'm heading into yet another winter - it'll be my third in a row, with about two weeks of quite nice weather in between each. I don't want to buy jumpers or coats or scarves but unless I move to Queensland this winter I'm going to have to!

I'm choosing to believe this photo is less-than-great because the tart doesn't look that great, rather than because I didn't take a good photo. I blame the pastry, it's too thin and it went very hard and crispy. More experimentation needed!
