Happyism
Tabitha again! So taken because the photo I had planned for today didn't happen - hopefully it will tomorrow!
Today was one of those frustrating days where nothing really goes right and you spend the day in a state of constant annoyance. Luckily I had something to look forward to tonight, otherwise I would have been really pissed off!
I went to see Adam Hills perform at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival this evening with Liv. She suggested it last weekend and we managed to get tickets even though Friday nights are popular at the festival, so I was really excited. Adam Hills is basically my favourite comedian - I watched him host Spicks & Specks for years, I've seen him before at the comedy festival, I've been in the studio audience for both Spicks & Specks and his new show, Gordon Street Tonight, and I even tracked down the episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks he was on about 10 years ago. If anyone was going to cheer me up tonight, it was him, and he did not disappoint.
His show was called Happyism because he's decided it's his new religion - the concept was inspired by his 94-year-old grandpa, who said his religion was family and helping people. It's a pretty beautiful philosophy. Adam Hills is the kind of guy who'll be hysterically funny but will also deliver some beautiful home truths along the way that knock you sideways. He's an inspiring guy and really does deserve the title of Australia's nicest comedian. His family is also amazing - his wife is a burlesque singer who's been on several episodes of Spicks & Specks and does really awesome performances, and they have a little girl who is either going to be the funniest woman in Australia or some world famous opera singer - or both!
Basically, amazing evening, followed by gelati and chats with Liv and a session of 'chase the cats around the house to get a photo that's not blurry' when I got home.
The lighting in our living room is awful and I was trying really hard not to get the TV in the background so I'm actually quite impressed with this picture! Tabby's looking mad as usual, but cute as well.
