Gold Rush & SciTech

Today we were going to pick up the rental car. But because some people turned theirs in too late, we had to wait for a while. We started walking...

That's how we ended up at the Mint of Perth. There they mint gold, silver and platinum into coins and other valuable items. We took a tour and saw the quick process of making a gold bar. My dad got the gold rush and decided to go camping near Karlgoorlie! I joined him and ended up pushing the wheelbarrow full of large gold nuggets! Look here.

On the background is the dome of the planetarium that's part of SciTech. We drove there after picking up our car. At SciTech you can experience and play with science. It was great fun.. until they shut off the power and lights at 4 o'clock!

The planetarium taught us things about the sky seen from the southern hemisphere and about cosmic collisions. A wonderful experience in iMax view.

This evening my dad finally got his bag back and we are well on our way to relax and celebrate this one-of-a-kind holiday!
