Cover crop harvest

Taking off the red clover for compost and leaving the roots with nitrogen nodules in the ground.  Ready for the courgette beds.  Nearing end of first year trying green manure/cover crops.  Weed suppression impressive - nettles had started to grow through this clover when it was younger and was difficult to try to weed out, so I gave up.  Very few nettles left when I came to remove the clover.  Books/internet said to get rid of the cover crop with black plastic (naaa - too much plastic anyway) or to strim (which I could imagine leaving a mess).  So I've tried snipping the clover off at the stem/root junction and we are composting the tops.  An added bonus has been the colours of the clover and the phacelia (see next photo).
