Where composers are born

And other types of musicians too, of course. But the case I know best is a young composer, Gabriella Smith, who went to this Berkeley music school in her teens, and whose first string quartet, written when she was about thirteen, knocked me out at a local concert. She’s already gone on to greatness, in the form of a Carnegie Hall premiere (which I missed, alas). I’m sure there are many other such stories emerging from this place.
