2022 Tuesday — Sweetness in a Jar

I learned recently that storing strawberries in canning jars in the refrigerator keeps them from molding and increases their shelf life. I tried it last week for the first and I was pleased with the results. So today when I brought home more of these luscious lumps of sugar, I put them in canning jars.

We drove beyond Morro Bay south to Los Osos/Baywood Park today. I wanted to do a little shopping at the Ralph’s Grocery Store (Morro Bay has an Albertsons grocery store that I am not very fond of). We also thought we’d share a sandwich at the High Street Deli in the little Baywood Park community, but we had not realized it was closed on Tuesdays. We quickly improvised and went to Noi’s outdoor cafe to split a tuna sandwich and garden salad. It was delicious. Then we headed to Ralph’s to shop.

This day started with an overcast sky that transformed into fog. It wasn’t pretty. Gray days are expected here on the coast. Days and weeks of it are tiring. As we exited Cayucos for Los Osos in the early afternoon, we drove out of the fog, which is quite unusual. Often we leave sunny Cayucos and drive into the fog, so it was wonderful to see blue sky. The fog was gone from Cayucos before we returned. Then much later just before 8:00 p.m. we watched the sun vanish behind the hills north of us.
