Rock 'n Royalty
My daughter treated my wife and me to a Rock 'n Royalty tour around Richmond taking in venues where the Rolling Stones and other iconic bands of that era started off. The tour was conducted in this appropriately decorated minibus and Paul, our tour guide, was a mine of information. The extra photo is of the Richmond Athletics Association grounds where the low blue painted building hosted the Crawdaddy Club in the early 60s. The Stones had a residency there before they hit the big time. They were succeeded at the Crawdaddy by The Yardbirds then featuring Eric Clapton. The Royalty bit of the tour was a stop outside what remains of Richmond Palace, a favourite residence of Queen Elizabeth 1st.
