That's Life!

What An Eyeful . . .

Took a trip from Joburg to the Free State town of Parys where I saw the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, Madame Guillotine and a few other artifacts copied from its more famous Gallic sister. But the town is not content with having one Eiffel Tower; there's another, smaller, version in the main street.

Parys is famous in its own right as well - it was the scene of much guerilla warfare in the Boer War at the turn of the 20th Century and it is situated in the heart of the Vredefort Dome, at 300km across the largest impact crater to exist on Earth and a World Heritage Sight. Another pal, Graeme Addison, whom I visited today, runs a guest house, rafting and canoeing centre a few miles from here - and is also an expert on the Dome - See HERE
