Stanton
Despite getting back after 8 I managed to get the washing done and got it hung out this morning before we left for Mr C’s dental appointment. While he was in the dentist I rashly bought a pair of linen culottes and a top in the same pattern. My justification is that they’ll get worn a lot as we are going to be in hot places this year if all goes to plan.
We then called on #3 daughter and family who were getting ready for the overnight ferry to Amsterdam, en route for a big camp site south of Paris. We were invited but declined as the Center Parcs type of places give us claustrophobia. The boys will love all the swimming pools and a lake. We used to take our girls to Eurocamp every year but the sites then were quite small so the children could run free.
We called at a huge “outlet” store nearby so that I could get a sauté pan with a lid. We found a Le Creuset type one for under £50, much reduced because there was no box. I pushed the boat out and also got a new spatula.
Next stop was Stanton, a small family-owned garden centre where we got some trailing geraniums and begonias for the space left in my pots after the deer munched my Sweet Williams. They also ate the rosebuds, despite the fence. Mr C thinks they jumped in from the garage roof. I’m disproportionately upset about it. I do love my roses but in the scheme of things just now there’s more worthy things to be upset about. Like the self-serving, dishonest, lazy, entitled narcissist in #10.
