A Tangled Web
Lot's of nice things blooming in the sunshine today but this flower bud both caught my eye and to some extent my mood. Nigella damascena, better known as 'Love in a Mist,' a annual that I have grown on and off since I was a child. It's keeping going here by self seeding in a trough which also houses a mix of autumn and winter flowering bulbs. A few years back I sowed a few annuals for summer interest and this is the only one that has continued.
I received a copy of the Decree Absolute a little while ago. Closure of a kind on many years of emotional tension but today a special delivery contained the paperwork relating to annulment. The Catholic Church allows for a Tribunal to decide that the marriage was not valid which involves raking over the - distant in our case - past. As the two of us have such differing understanding, this has potential for controversy. Having almost made my peace with the situation after all that has happened, this is an unwonted distraction.
A gently productive day. Two loads of laundry dry outside, some more garden tidying and a long walk with Meg. We collected a personalised water bottle from Jamie's and delivered it to it's new owner who was conveniently at Wharf Station on our route out to the country lanes at the edge of town. Once there, we stopped and sat for a while at both the benches on our route - an extra pic from Ty Mawr bridge - after the last train had gone. Including stops to chat with friends and a neighbour, we were out over two hours.
Off to Birmingham by train for the day tomorrow. Ruth's had a very grotty couple of days but is now feeling a bit brighter. I'll meet and greet the new support worker who wasn't able to see Ruth midweek and we can get more done in Ruth's garden. I rather enjoy the day trips over there, beats driving and I will get plenty of down-time on the train. Jamie has sent videos of the fun he's having staying on the therapy farm where Aaron lives, they have miniature ponies now so he's in his element :-)
