Groundhog Day

Some large fish were thrashing around in the water, fighters or lovers I'm not sure. Every so often I caught a glimpse of a fin or scaly back arching above the surface. But determining when they would surface and getting focus in time, was near on impossible. The whole affair reminded me of whale watching, a lot of effort and expense for not much reward.

I was just about to give up, when I saw a shape steaming towards me. Not a fish as I thought at first, but the groundhog a muskrat. Even then I took several attempts before getting something resembling a sharp shot.

Edit: originally I thought this animal was a groundhog, but they are land lovers, whereas muskrats like water.
