Embrace the future

It’s meat free.

This was a fabulous session in a day of mixed fortunes. Thomasina Meirs is the creator of Wahaca (the Mexican food restaurant chain) and an advocate for sustainable eating. Inspirational. Quite a good laugh. Looks like Keeley Hawes. Prone to going to Downing Street with Jamie Oliver to shout at the prime minister about his spineless approach to food policy. Anyone who shouts at BoJo is fine by me.

I saw Frances Spalding earlier and bought her book about English Art between the wars. Had a few problems hearing this one but enjoyed it. The book looks fabulous, both the illustrations and the narrative. I have a fascination with the interwar period and this is right up my street.

Linda Davies and Nick Bashall talking about money was poor. A very odd session in fact. Won’t waste time describing it. That left us with Reginald D Hunter, the American comedian. We dipped out at half time because he just wasn’t’ t that funny and kept forgetting where he was in his narrative.

Had plenty of time in Hay itself today. Bought some books, had breakfast, enjoyed the atmosphere. They have turned the ruined castle into a cultural centre which has been done beautifully by incorporating modern design into the old stonework. Fabulous. 

Also spent some time with our airbnb hosts today, who are absolutely lovely. Really lovely moment when TSM bumped into an old Uni friend that we haven’t seen for twenty years. Amazing. Another reason to love this place (if you needed one). It so brings people together.

Good day despite the couple of odd downsides eventwise. But very tired. Not enough sleep. Will make up for that tonight. Do what you’re good at I say.
