Water tower 2

Following on from yesterdays blip this is the main water tower in Reading. It is set upon a high hill and can be seen from many miles away coming either way on the M4 or up from the south. As far as I know it is a proper working tower although I dont know it's exact purpose. Apparently a few years ago water was seen pouring over the top. It was built in 1926. In contrast to yesterdays tower the cream coloured brickwork was used to help show that Reading was a modern and forward thinking town.
I will revisit it in the summer because it does contrast well with a vivid blue sky!
