Where did the bath go?

It's been threatening for ages and came to a head a few months ago when a plumber came out to deal with a constant drip from one of the basin's taps in the bathroom. He was to fit new taps but couldn't shift the old ones without a real risk of breaking the basin, so he arranged a temporary solution, but it was a situation which couldn't continue.

So the bullet was bitten and work started at 8am today to fully replace the bathroom which has more or less remained unchanged for the past sixty-odd years, since the house was built. Today was rip-it-all-out day … with a vengeance. With the old stuff ripped out and removed to wherever old bathrooms go, it was time for delivery of shower, shower tray, ceiling panels, plaster, tiles … etc etc.

I hadn't allowed for painting the existing door, so I grabbed the proverbial bull by its proverbial horns and placed an order for a nice new one with full ironmongery. I was very, very impressed with the door company. An exchange of emails over the space of a couple of hours, all finalised and paid for and the new door will arrive on Wednesday morning.
