Organ Recital
After a quick browse round the market in Aylsham we headed for the main event, a demonstration of the Wurlitzer organ at the Thursford Collection.
Here is a wonderful collection of steam traction vehicles but also beautifully decorated showman's engines and a couple of carousels, all in working order; we can vouch for that, having enjoyed watching and listening.
But Robert Wolfe gave two magnificent energetic performances on the Wurlitzer organ, feet flying about the pedalboard and hands on the three manuals. We spoke to him in the interval, discovering that it was he that gave the recital we saw on our first visit, sometime in the early 80's - in fact he has been the resident organist for 42 years, having started at the age of 19, prior to this he played in Blackpool for three years. Extra 1 of the original poster, extra 2 of him addressing the audience, playing a couple of requests, otherwise the programme included favourites of the Queen, celebrating the Platinum Jubilee. In fact, this week all entries are half price!
We moved on to visit Walsingham taking a tour of the Shrine to Our Lady, (though still to read up on her history) followed by a potter round Holt , sadly after closing time!
