Ceanothus

A funny old day.

Weather, dramatically variable. Heavy showers, hail and intervals of bright sunshine and fast moving cloud. Interesting.

I took a brief opportunity to snap the Ceanothus shrub in our garden, before I say goodbye.

Like a number of things we have planted and nurtured over the years, this, strangely, is the best it has ever been. And teeming with bees, which is great.

Lots of fun across the road. The cowboys and indians are making a terrific amount of noise and an awful lot of mess. The structure of the main extension is more or less up, and they are now removing the old garage which is still inside.. Shambolic.

They have had a constant stream of skips coming and going, driving over people's lawns, breaking off branches of trees in adjoining properties and to cap it all (I nearly wet myself laughing at this) they have arranged to have all the new roof tiles dropped on the driveway of the house they are building, making it extremely difficult to place and remove the skips. The lorry tried to reverse in an exceedingly tight spot and hit one of the pallets of new roof tiles. Then, amidst much shouted profanity and arm waving, he repositioned and reversed into a second pallet of new roof tiles. The language and commotion was unintelligible, highly vociferous and utterly hilarious. What a bunch of rank amateurs. Two pallets of roof tiles badly damaged, quite unnecessarily, because of rank ineptitude. Now they are dropping bricks and mortar off a first floor scaffolding into an empty skip (over the head of a colleague working below - no hard hat). The noise is percussive and quite unpleasant. Hollie is terrified and won't go out.

Oh the joys of living in a quiet suburban cul de sac.

Three new viewings tomorrow and Thursday. Worried about the noise. Hope the pretend builders have a bloody day off!
