Today's the day ..................... to fly the flag

I've spent most of the day working away in the garden all by myself - so it came as a bit of a surprise when I went into Kirkcudbright this evening for a talk - to find that the whole place was well into party mode.

There were banners and displays in shop windows - and Union Jack flags everywhere.  I found these two lolling on top of a postbox in a slightly drunken state but correct in every detail, including Her Majesty's pearls and handbag.  People have obviously been very busy.

We will be joining in a few things over the weekend, including a couple of outdoor concerts with the choir.  But there's one thing that won't be happening - and that's the flying of a Union Jack from the flagpole.  Will is disgusted that it's a flag supposedly representing the United Kingdom - but there's no bit of it representing Wales.  And I have to agree with him on that omission.

So we're happy to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - but it'll be the Welsh dragon flying proudly round here .........................!
