In bits
The guy who ran into the back of my car back in March is fitting a new bumper just now. That's part of the reason I had the car cleaned yesterday; it would have looked mighty strange if the rest of the car was its usual state and the bumper was shiny and clean. Also done a wee bit of "scorched earth" gardening.
Early this morning, about 02:00, I finished reading John Podmore's "Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Why Britain's Prisons Are Failing" and I heartily recommend it to everyone regardless of whether you work in the criminal justice system. As the title suggests Podmore argues that because the general population don't think about what happens in prisons the people charged with looking after them are under no pressure to get it right. The statistics on reoffending clearly demonstrate that our prisons are not serving us well and he gives examples of why and how we might do things better.
And now back out into all that glorious sun! Enjoy the weekend mes amis
