Sun Pier, Chatham

Sun Pier, good name? Live music, check. Boat Pageant along the Medway, check. Food and drink market, check. Cacophony, check.

All lined up for a good day in Chatham for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Until the weather spoilt it all. Strong, gusty winds, scudding clouds led to the cancellation on the river pageant. The cacophony was a muted hoot and the food and drink market was called off owing to all the gazebos being blown over.

The music moved indoors which saved the day. Quite by accident we found the new venue when on the search for toilets. We were looking forward to listening to the Hot Rats the members of which we know well. They played at our wedding 20 years ago and we’ve seen them many, many times before.

Doug advised we bag a comfy sofa at the front and enjoy the the entertainment. Which we did. The Rats were rousing, followed by a community choir who were great and then a brother and sister (Doug’s step children) duo who were excellent, great vocals and sublime guitar.

After which we went for some street food and the cacophony. What we planned to do didn’t happen what we did do made up for it being as it was unexpected. Life’s like that sometimes.

I hope your weekend is going well what ever you’re doing. We’re forecast thunderstorms overnight and a poor day tomorrow.
