The Light Room

By Johndmcck

Every journey...

...has to start somewhere. Today I needed to get some walking in. I later calculated that I had walked just over nine miles, a bit better than the six miles last weekend. Knowing a lot of my local walks has certainly helped me choose some local routes for my training walks. I basically walked from Kettering to Isham, via Barton Seagrave and Burton Latimer, and back over the A6 towards Cranford, then back to Kettering. As I re-entered Kettering, I decided to take a potential short-cut (ironic I know) through a fairly recently established WWT site near Wicksteed Park. I don't know where the energy came from, but I had been wanting to check this area out for some time now and poor weather was a main factor for not getting stuck in an unfamiliar field! The opportunity had finally presented itself, and on this relatively small area of land I still managed to see a Kestrel and a few mallards. I am now resting weary limbs.
