Shiny Lyre Bird
I take some of my daily walks through the Blue Mountains National Park. The extraordinary network of paths and trails takes one to brilliant locations. Of particular note are the many life sized stainless steel statues of native wildlife species. This one illustrates a flightless lyrebird, so named because its huge elongated tail, when erect, resembles a musical lyre. It is not uncommon to encounter real life examples of these birds as one walks.
At this particular location there is a dedication to National Parks and Wildlife Service workers who have lost their lives while on duty.
