Atkinson Street
... is not quite the thoroughfare it once was.
I've been in the office today, preparing to deliver some new code for a client tomorrow night. This was the software I wrote on the train to Birmingham last week. I had it all working on Friday but today has been about error handling. Anyone in the business knows about the 80-20 rule. The last 20% of the job ends up taking 80% of the time. This function has to be bomb-proof. I think I'm almost there but you know what clients are like. Fortunately, we have someone in the office who has an uncanny knack of thinking up all the weird things that the users might try to do! She's going to be busy tomorrow. I guess I will be too.
Light has a magical transformative power. I walk down this street most mornings on the way to the office but it never occurred to me before this evening that there was a photograph to be taken here. The forecast had been for a wet afternoon but the clouds cleared late on to leave a beautifully bright evening. I went out to get some air and saw this little street in a whole new light. Literally. I love the way the shadows have formed a wicket on the wall - and I also quite like it that the third 'stump' is out of view.
I'm rushing to post this before catching the train home. Decided to give the bike a rest today. The legs are tired but not actually as bad I was expecting - so that's a bonus. Thanks so much for all the honours for yesterday's blip. Your response is what keeps me at this lark and going that extra mile. Even tonight I had to take this standing in the main road to get the angle I wanted to show you. Being Sunday, thankfully, it wasn't as busy as it usually is. Cheers everyone. You're the best.
