Rachel at Allington Lock

The weather failed to live up to the early promise when we awoke to one of those enticing early summer days. The sun was out, the skies a milky blue giving an expectation of a warm day instead of the greyness and cold of recent days.

It all flattered to deceive. By the time we went out the sun had disappeared behind a rolling bank of cloud that stayed with us the rest of the day until just before 8.00pm.

It stayed dry for the first part of our walk from Waitrose to the town centre along the banks of the River Medway. Time enough for a coffee sitting outside the lock keepers cabin coffee shop. While sitting here Rachel and associated reflections presented themselves for today’s blip.

Within 200 yards of setting off for town a fine drizzle drifted down and continued to do so with various intensities for the rest of the day. Good job we’d taken umbrellas otherwise we would have ended up rather damp.

Lunch was good, making up somewhat for conditions outside. When we arrived back home I had a haircut then, with my streamlined head enjoyed a damp run around Mote Park.
