The Scottish Borders

We drove south to the borders first to Melrose for lunch and to see Melrose Abbey where Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried. (Extra) Then on to Scott’s View, a favorite of writer Walter Scott.      Not far from this spot stands an immense statue of William Wallace which we walked up to see.  Finally, we arrived at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel which overlooks the River Tweed.  After checking in, we wandered the grounds of the abbey which was, unfortunately, fenced off because of structural issues.  I just caught a glimpse of Scott’s tomb.  Before dinner we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco in the hotel garden with the sun glistening off the river.  Yes, it was another beautiful day.  I’ve added an extra collage of the abbey and the river.  For my last day we will visit Abbotsford the stunning home of Walter Scott before heading back for my preflight Covid test.
