Speckled Wood

Today A&I are celebrating the 16th Anniversary of our Civil Partnership. The occasion was marked by our first sighting of (we had to look it up) a Speckled Wood Butterfly. It was perched in the sun not too far from our back hedge which contains Hazel. They feed on the aphid honeydew on the leaves so I read. They may also favour the long uncut grass.

Lovely morning to eat our breakfast on the patio.
