Back to France

I'm back in France for the first time since June 2019. We are going to Le Mans for the 24 Hour endurance race which has been an annual trip for many years. Sadly, in the ensuing years, two of our group including my best friend, Chris, who was the chief organiser of the trip, have died. So there are just the four of us this year. We have always camped in a village outside Le Mans in the past but this year, for the first time, we are staying in a gite in the grounds of a chateau in the heart of the French countryside. It's beautiful. We went to our favourite restaurant and drank a toast in memory of Chris and Mick and they will be in our thoughts throughout the weekend. The extra photos are of the compartment on the shuttle train taking us through the Channel Tunnel and of a very long French freight train that kept us waiting an age at a level crossing.
