Around Portland Bill

We went for a very early bike ride around the lanes this morning. The air was beautifully fresh and really did smell of new mown hay . 

Yesterday, I had spotted a young heron on the road at Charlton Horethorne and we found out that it is a regular visitor to the village . 

Back at home, we managed to do some gardening before my hair appointment in Dorchester.

We decided to have coffee afterwards at ‘ The Potting Shed’ run by Olives et Al and then we were seduced into having one of their fabulous salads for lunch . We ate the picnic we’d made to take to Portland for dinner !! 

It was lovely to see the Bill in the sunshine . The sea was really broiling as it must have been stormy out in the ocean . Looking at Scottish ferries, lots were cancelled today or in danger of being cancelled due to ‘adverse  conditions ‘ ! Summer finally seemed to be here though in terms of sunshine and a blue sky. 

More gardening when home then we sat in the Sumner House .
