Day Four Crete . Ladies climb steps on Spinalonga
As a big group we were able to hire a boat with Skipper to take us to the island of Spinalonga where people suffering from Leprosy were sent from 1903 until 1956. Victoria Hislop wrote a novel about it called “The Island “ which we have all read and so were keen to visit and find out more .
Afterwards we stopped off at several swimming places and swam from the boat .
Later Dave and I walked to the small town of Elounda to buy some provisions and gifts , the day was rounded of beautifully by a Cuban ban who played some long sets on the terrace , dancing happened!
