Bee on Astrantia
Today we left the birds behind and had a National Trust Day visiting Penrhyn Castle in the morning and Plas Newydd in the afternoon.
I enjoyed the castle more than I expected despite the lack of birds. It was interesting inside the house and had a small Railway Museum too.
The walled gardens were nice and had a good bog area with MASSIVE gunnera plants. I've never seen them so big.
We only had a quick visit to Plas Newydd, found the birds hide, but only saw herring gulls and a heron, but the red squirrel feeding station was a little more successful with two squirrels and a woodpecker taking their turns at trying to access the food. Unfortunately my camera was in the bag as we'd just walked through a shower, so we just sat and enjoyed watching for a change :)
In the garden at Penrhyn, they had huge clumps of this pink astrantia that looked wonderful and was teaming with bees. Just a quick shot as we passed by.
Thanks so much for the nice comments, stars and hearts for yesterdays little terns.
