Day 31 Palas de Rei to Arzùa
These Horreos are grain storage buildings are dotted all over Galicia. They are built on stone pillars to deter rodents.
Another day of unexpected delights and more new people to walk and talk with, including a Glaswegian now living in Dublin. The noisy exuberant group of 43 high schoolers from Andalusia are delightful and keen to practise their English language skills. They are not supposed to play music, however there is always a breakaway group who manage to defy the instruction and I find myself walking in synch to the beat of some alien (to me) tuneless number.
The wooded areas, extra, were delightful with ample shade as the early morning coolness quickly turned to another hot day. I was very excited to see a pine marten dash across in front of me.
My bed for tonight is in the eaves of an old house in Azura, amazingly it comes with an electronic skylight (great for sock drying) and air conditioning that works. The washing machine situated right outside my door is gently whirring, a comforting soporific noise, not that I need any help to sleep.
I almost forgot to mention the Galician bagpiper who played for us beside the medieval bridge across one of the many streams and rivers we crossed today, extra.
