Dovecote Cottage
We pass this cottage in St Mary Bourne, Hampshire, every time we go to visit our son. There are always doves on the roof, often many more than today. It is situated alongside the river and a very sharp bend in front of the house goes over a bridge over the river Bourne. When the house was built the village will have been very different with no motor traffic . There are lots of thatched cottages and many attractive old houses constructed of brick and flint. It is a village with a good community, a thriving Village Hall, a community shop alongside a good playground and cricket pitch and has a primary school as well as two pubs.
Today we first met our son and his little boy at the Museum of Army Flying near Andover. This is our second visit and it has lots of interesting Information and displays including some actual small planes and helicopters. The cafe seems to be a meeting place for bikers going out for a ride in the area! After we went for lunch in a pub over the road from the cottage in the blip. A nice dog friendly pub which always does a good Sunday Roast including good crunchy vegetables.
En route we noticed many different petrol and diesel prices, all expensive. Crazy prices but still lots of vehicles on the road.
